Project Overview
Background & Purpose: 

This proposal is to perform a comprehensive stratified random sample survey of the nation’s undergraduate mathematical and statistical sciences programs at two-year and four-year institutions in the fall of 2010, and write a comprehensive report available in the spring of 2012, continuing the cross-sectional survey of undergraduate mathematics programs that have been done every five years since 1965.

Setting: 

The study takes place at undergraduate mathematical and statistical sciences programs at two-year and four-year institutions.

Research Design: 

This is a cross-sectional study designed to generate descriptive evidence. This project collects original data using survey research [online]. Analysis plans include utilizing data from the stratified random sample that will be adjusted for non-response and standard projection techniques. Both of these will be used to produce point estimates of the various variables in the survey for each of the two-year math programs, four-year math programs and four-year statistics programs found in the US.
