Catalyzing Research in Science Education Policy

Project Overview
Background & Purpose: 

This project brought together science education researchers, scientists, policy researchers, and policy makers for a two-day conference to explore ways to begin the work of establishing a research base to inform policy in science education. We were particularly focused on the new framework for science and engineering standards as well as science teacher education.

Setting: 

The project was a conference held at the Airlie Conference Center in Warrenton, VA, on June 8 and June 9, 2009.

Research Design: 

The research design for this project is cross-sectional.

Findings: 

This project has generated several lines of research to be further developed to inform debates around the new framework for new standards and science teacher education.

Other Products: 

This project will result in research symposia; joint research projects and papers.
