Conference Grant: Linking Communities to Advance Evaluation Capacity Building in Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Project Overview

Background & Purpose:

The objective of this project is to utilize a conference mechanism to strengthen HBCU participant understanding of capacity building issues and to encourage them to identify and prioritize efforts that will lead to a more robust pool of competent evaluators. These efforts should be prioritized from three perspectives: their own, their institutions, and across institutions.

The conference will assemble faculty from HBCUs who participated in earlier evaluation capacity building efforts sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the American Evaluation Association (AEA), along with experts in the field of evaluation theory and practice.

Research Design:

This project has a comparative research design and will generate evidence that is descriptive [observational]. Original data will be collected using survey research [self-completion questionnaires], conference presentations, and small group discussion. Descriptive data from conference questionnaires will be analyzed.

Findings:

Findings will be posted as they become available.

Other Products:

This project will generate a conference proceedings document and a webinar.
